This steely, mineral-driven Chardonnay is clearly shaped by its limestone soil and the cool climate in Ried Flamberg. Whispers of white fruit, almonds, cardamom, and white pepper join together in an elegant, balanced bouquet. On the palate, the Flamberg offers long, juicy flavors with a delicate salinity and earthy nuances. An enticingly balanced wine predestined for extended maturation in the bottle.

The vines sit in the limestone of an ancient coral reef, with significant influence from the winds of the nearby Koralm Mountains. Grapes tend to ripen slowly here, encouraging a precise structure and cool minerality.
The grapes were harvested by hand in the beginning of October. After the gentle pressing of the whole grapes, the spontaneous fermentation occurred in big oak barrels (1000-2500 liter) and the wine was aged for 18 months in the barrels.
Ried Flamberg Morillon 2015:
94 Points - Parker
The wine opens very clear, intense, pure and smoky on the nose, with superb lemon peel aromas. Intense and juicy on the palate, this is a highly elegant, round and balanced Chardonnay that underwent malolactic fermentation at 100%. The finish is gorgeously mineral and shows very fine tannins. This is a great Styrian Chardonnay, probably one if the finest next to Tement's Zieregg.
